Joslin will deliver a diabetes education program in Kuwait for approximately 150-200 nurses (and others such as nutritionists, pharmacists are welcome to attend) who work in the primary care clinics within the Kuwait Ministry of Health and Dasman Diabetes Institute. The program will be conducted as two part series, each program will be conducted over three days. At the conclusion of each program, attendees will receive a Certificate of Attendance.
Part 1 of the program will focus on: Treatment Options, Acute Complications and Diabetes Assessment Skills.
Part 2 of the program will focus on: Chronic Complications, Prevention and Behavior Change Strategies.
Part 1 of the program will be delivered during the period 13th - 15th February, 2012 and it will be based on practical knowledge and skills to enable the attendees to better understand the challenges of living with diabetes, complete a basic diabetes education assessment, identify key areas of need for diabetes education, teach blood glucose monitoring, basic insulin initiation skills and basic meal and exercise planning.
